About the Book:
“The title of the book ‘By this we Conquer’ is the motto on the O’Donnell Coat of Arms, one of Richard Davis ancestors. The book is about the life and letter of the Irish Missionary Richard Davis ‘that stirring and industrious man, and dedicated pioneer of the Gospel. Reverend Richard Davis (18 January 1790 – 28 May 1863) was a New Zealand meteorologist, missionary and farmer. He made weather recordings in the northern North Island from 1839 to 1844, and 1849 to 1851, making them the oldest continuous land-based recordings in New Zealand. In 2019 they were inscribed into UNESCO's Memory of the World Aotearoa New Zealand Ngā Mahara o te Ao documentary heritage register. Davis had associations with Sturminster Newton and Piddletrenthide Dorset, England.”
